Is Gauth Free to Use?

Gauth is free to download, but Gauth Plus costs $11.99 a month or $99.99 a year on the US App Store. Gauth does not publish how many free questions you get.

Is Gauth Free? What You Get Without Paying

Gauth is free to download and use for basic question solving, but Gauth sells paid upgrades through a subscription called Gauth Plus. In the guides we publish here at Chalkbox, we review homework and classroom tools so families and teachers know the costs before setting up accounts. The free version lets you take a photo of a problem and get steps, but Gauth does not publish how many free questions you get. Gauth Plus costs $11.99 a month, $31.99 a quarter or $99.99 a year on the US App Store.

In fact, the official Gauth Google Play listing contradicts itself regarding unpaid usage. In one sentence, the store description says Gauth offers unlimited answers for all subjects. Further down, the same listing names unlimited answers and explanations as a Gauth Plus benefit. To find your own free limit, check what the Gauth app shows you.

If you choose to purchase an upgrade, the United States Apple App Store lists clear subscription rates for Gauth Plus. The listing notes that actual prices and introductory promotions depend on in-app display and regional adjustments.

Features Included With Gauth Plus

Gauth Plus is a paid subscription tier designed to remove limits on answers and grant access to advanced tutoring tools. The gauth.com sidebar advertises Gauth Plus with "Unlimited Answers" and "Gauth AI Pro". Gauth lists Math, Biology, Physics, Chemistry and Others as its subjects.

According to the official Google Play store entry, Gauth Plus adds:

  • Unlimited answers and explanations across supported academic subjects
  • An advanced artificial intelligence (AI) tutor that supports interactive problem breakdowns
  • Access to a question bank containing more than 100 million problems
  • Access to a library of more than 20 million tutorial videos
  • Twenty-four-seven assistance from human subject matter experts

Gauth provides two separate tutoring systems that work differently. The AI Live Tutor is an AI tutor you talk to by voice, and it explains problems on a virtual whiteboard. No human teacher is on the other end of the AI Live Tutor. For human help, the App Store listing promises 24/7 support from "a global network of subject matter experts". The gauth.com home page says "Thousands of real tutors are available 24/7" and promises "Solutions within as little as 5 minutes".

Other tools in the suite include a Study Converter that turns uploaded notes or audio recordings into flashcards and practice quizzes. Gauth also lists a "DeepThinking" mode and a study toolbox with reading, writing, focus mode and calculator tools. If you use Gauth mainly for math, our guide to AI for learning math covers more ways to study with AI.

How the Free Trial and Cancellation Work

Gauth offers 3-day free trials on select subscription packages, but the trial converts to a recurring charge unless you cancel early. On the Apple App Store, Gauth lists 3-day trials attached to both quarterly and annual tiers, such as the $31.99 quarterly trial and the $99.99 annual package. The gauth.com sidebar also shows a Start Free Trial button but does not state the trial length.

The App Store listing sets the renewal rules:

  • Renewal charges process within 24 hours prior to the expiration of the current period.
  • You must turn off auto-renewal at least 24 hours before your 3-day trial finishes to prevent an unwanted charge.

To cancel, turn off auto-renew for Gauth in your phone's subscription settings. Set a personal reminder on your calendar for the second day of the trial. If you wait until the final hours of the third day, the App Store may charge your account before you turn off the renewal switch.

Minimum Age and Academic Integrity Rules

Gauth's Terms set a minimum age of 13 and say not to use Gauth on schoolwork when your school forbids it. The public store ratings list Gauth as Everyone on Google Play and 4+ on the Apple App Store. Those are store content ratings. Gauth's Terms set the age rule separately.

The official Gauth Terms of Service require every account holder to be at least 13 years old. If you are between age 13 and the age of legal majority where you live, the terms state that you must have express permission and consent from a parent or legal guardian. Gauth's rest-of-world Terms say the services are provided by Gauthtech Pte. Ltd., a company registered in Singapore. The Gauth US Terms of Service name TikTok USDS Joint Venture LLC as the US operator.

Gauth's Terms also say users "commit to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity." The Terms say not to use Gauth "to complete exams, quizzes, or assignments when such actions are prohibited by your academic institution." The gauth.com footer adds: "Gauth is an AI study companion designed to support learning, not a substitute for students' own work."

Each school sets its own rules on AI use and its own consequences for breaking them. Our guide on whether using AI is cheating covers how to use AI within your school's rules. If you copy down an automated answer without working through the algebra yourself, you skip the mental practice needed to pass in-person tests.

Free Alternatives for Math and Science

You do not need to buy Gauth Plus to get step-by-step assistance with high school or college coursework. Photomath, Desmos, Khanmigo and ChatGPT each cover part of the same job for free or for less. You can review our list of Gauth alternatives and read about specialized AI math tools for students to compare broader options.

Photomath handles camera scans of arithmetic, algebra, and calculus problems. The basic version costs $0 and includes step-by-step explanations, custom visual aids, and extra "how" and "why" tips. The optional Photomath Plus upgrade costs $9.99 monthly or $69.99 annually to add textbook solutions and animated tutorials. Our guide to whether Photomath is free covers Photomath's plans in more detail.

Desmos Studio operates as a Public Benefit Corporation and provides its entire graphing calculator suite at no charge to more than 75 million people worldwide. Desmos does not describe a photo-solve feature, so use Desmos to graph linear equations, parabolas and calculus curves and check your work visually.

If you prefer guided questions over direct answer keys, Khanmigo costs $4 per month or $44 annually. Khanmigo acts as an interactive tutor across almost every subject. Instead of giving you the final result, Khanmigo prompts you to think through the underlying principles yourself. If you want to compare other guided learning options, browse our list of Khanmigo alternatives. ChatGPT's Free plan costs $0 and includes unlimited text chats with GPT-5.6 Luna, subject to abuse guardrails.

Deciding if Gauth Plus Fits Your Homework Routine

Gauth Plus is not necessary for every learner. If you only use homework apps now and then to check an answer, the free version of Gauth or a dedicated graphing calculator handles the job without adding a monthly credit card charge.

Paying for Gauth Plus makes practical sense only if you routinely study complex scientific equations outside school hours and rely heavily on continuous multi-step explanations. If you hit the free limit often and use the video library or the human tutors, the $99.99 annual plan works out cheapest per month of the three US list prices.

Because Gauth does not publish its free limit, download Gauth this week and solve a few homework problems on the free tier before considering any subscription.
